Orientation of Health workers on the use of both National ID and Biometrics as Unique patient identifiers
Unique identification of individual HIV client for longitudinal tracking is the cornerstone of the HIV Case Based Surveillance.. METS program has developed the finger print technology, incorporated it into Uganda EMR and installed it at the following health facilities of Kibiito HCIV, Yerya HCIII, Bukuku HCIV and Mugusu HCIII. These facilities have already started capturing HIV clients finger prints and, in addition facilities have been interlinked with each other such that all patients whose finger prints have been captured at any of the above facilities can be identified at all the facilities.
METS has now planned to pilot the use of the National Identity Card (ID and Biometrics) as a unique identifier in the District of Bunganyabu. This will complement the already existing Biometrics use at facility level
