METS conducted on-site mentorships and quality assessments for 72 CDC-supported VMMC sites during the period of 25thJune to 6thJuly 2018. The mentorships were jointly conducted with the Implementing Partners and Ministry of Health (MoH). The selected 72 VMMC sites are high volume, based on the number of circumcisions performed in the last quarter. The mentorship activity focused on: validating the site level VMMC data for the period of March-May 2018, validating the site level adverse event (AE) data and identification, classification, documentation and reporting of AEs by the sites.
The activity was aimed at clarifying the need to report adverse events as a way of improving the quality of the VMMC program.
The exercise was carried out in 32 districts including; Rakai, Kalungu, Kalangala, Masaka, Mpigi, Bukomansimbi, Sembabule, Lyantonde, Lwengo, Gomba, Luwero, Nakaseke, Wakiso, Mityana, Kabarole, Bunyangabo, Kamwenge, Kasese, Kyenjojo, Mityana, Mubende, Katakwi, Serere, Soroti, Arua, Koboko, Nebbi, Packwach, Masindi, Hoima and Kampala.
