I welcome you to the Makerere University School of Public Health-Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Support (MAKSPH-METS) Program website!
In the last decade, the push for governments, institutions, and other public organisations to be more efficient and effective has gained momentum. As a result governments and other public institutions are adopting Result based management principles. This requires the presence of effective M&E systems that will be the hallmark for tracking results from policies, programs/projects, and other interventions where public funds are used. Where M&E is part and partial in the design and implementation of policies/programs and other interventions, accountability is enhanced and better results are achieved.
The Makerere University School of Public Health is a leader in capacity building for government institutions especially the health sector. The Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Support (METS) Program is a 5-year CDC-supported collaboration of Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and Health Information Systems Program (HISP Uganda). Our main goal is to strengthen the capacities of district health teams to strengthen M&E systems, Health systems strengthening programming, disease surveillance of HIV and Health Information systems. This program is supported by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
I hope that the materials and resources availed through this website will provide a rich information avenue, as we build for the future.
